Knowing Jesus’ Plan – Clint Davison

Lesson 38 of 57 September 11, 2023

This Bible study focused on the fulfillment of Jesus’ divine plan, particularly the events of Pentecost recorded in Acts 2. The teacher emphasized that Jesus’ plan, revealed in Ephesians 1:4-10, involved His earthly ministry, crucifixion, resurrection, and the establishment of His church. The lesson dissected Acts 2 into three parts: the setting (Pentecost’s miraculous occurrences), the sermon (Peter’s message to the crowd), and the saved (the response of 3,000 people being baptized). Central themes included the significance of Pentecost as the beginning of the church, the role of the Holy Spirit, and the urgency of repentance and faith in Christ. The teacher stressed how the early church’s example provides a model for modern believers seeking to restore New Testament Christianity.

Ephesians 1:4-10

But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not because of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Acts 2:1-4

When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from the heavens a sound like a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, divided and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
