Some Assembly Required - Sunday Morning Sermon

Lesson 4 of 9 July 15, 2019

In this Sunday morning sermon, Clint Davison emphasized the biblical necessity of Christian fellowship and collective worship. Using the metaphor of 'some assembly required,' he illustrated how God's people are called to work together in service, echoing Ephesians 2:10 which states that believers are created in Christ for good works. The teaching drew from Acts 2:42, highlighting the early church's commitment to fellowship, prayer, and shared life. Davison warned against the dangers of spiritual isolation, arguing that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in solitude. He referenced Genesis 2:18, emphasizing that human connection is divinely ordained, and warned that those who attempt to live the Christian life alone risk exposure to spiritual harm. The sermon framed fellowship as a divine design for strength, unity, and purpose.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Genesis 2:18

Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an helper fit for him.'

Acts 2:42-47

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need. And daily, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease to teach and preach Jesus as the Christ. And wonder and marvel took place, and the Lord was magnifying them. And many of the priests were obedient to the faith, and a great company of them came to the apostles and believed, and they were being added daily to the Lord.
