Reinforcing Our Fellowship

Lesson 44 of 49 November 21, 2022

In this Bible study class, Richard Sutton explored the meaning and importance of fellowship in the Christian life, emphasizing its vertical (with God) and horizontal (with other believers) dimensions. He explained that fellowship with God is foundational, requiring a life aligned with His standards, as seen in 1 John 1:5 (“God is light, and in him there is no darkness”). At the same time, fellowship among believers must balance inclusion with biblical boundaries, reflecting God’s inclusive love (1 John 2:2). Sutton challenged the congregation to pursue a fellowship that welcomes others while upholding moral integrity, drawing on examples from scripture and practical insights. The lesson highlighted that true fellowship requires both warmth and truth, mirroring God’s own character. The class also encouraged believers to be intentional in fostering unity and connection within their church community, especially as they prepare for upcoming devotional times during Thanksgiving.

1 John 2:2

He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 1:5

God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.
