God's Love

Lesson 14 of 38 July 10, 2023

The class focused on Ephesians 3:14-19, where Paul explains the need for believers to experience the love of God rather than merely intellectualize it. The teacher emphasized that knowing about love, like understanding the chemical composition of water, is different from feeling its transformative power. Paul’s message challenges the congregation to move beyond surface-level understanding of God’s love, highlighting that true comprehension involves a deep, personal experience akin to quenching a spiritual thirst. The lesson also introduced the metaphor of H2O to contrast mere knowledge with the reality of divine love’s impact. Central to the teaching was the idea that God’s love is comprehensive, encompassing all dimensions of existence and transcending human limitations, as described in verses 19. The teacher encouraged participants to reflect on how this understanding can shape their lives and relationships.

Ephesians 3:14-19

For this is the reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that he would grant to you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with all power through his Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, and that being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, the length, the height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
