Sunday PM Worship

Lesson 43 of 49 November 17, 2025

The class opened with Pastor Sutton inviting the congregation to read Lamentations chapter 3, focusing on verses 19 through 24. He explained how Jeremiah, amid the devastation of Jerusalem after the Babylonian siege, recalled God’s loving‑kindness and declared, “Therefore I have hope.” The teacher highlighted the contrast between human failure and God’s immutable character, emphasizing that God’s faithfulness is not occasional but integral to His nature. He quoted Deuteronomy 7:9 to illustrate that the Lord is a faithful covenant‑keeping God who sustains generations of believers. Sutton then presented three main points: first, that God’s faithfulness is an essential attribute, not a mood; second, that this faithfulness provides a steadfast anchor for believers when life feels like ruin; and third, practical ways to apply this truth, such as trusting God’s daily mercies and remembering that He is our portion. Throughout, he connected the passage to the hymn “The Faithfulness of God,” encouraging the class to internalize the promise that God’s compassion is renewed each morning. The session concluded with a call to live confidently in God’s reliable promises, no matter the surrounding circumstances.

Lamentations 3:22-24

Surely his loving kindness never ceases, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore I have hope in him.
