Reset - Our Foundation

Lesson 9 of 53 March 1, 2021

The class began with a warm greeting and an observation of the rapid physical growth happening throughout the Treasure Valley. The teacher used this visible expansion as a metaphor for spiritual foundations, reminding the congregation of Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount that likens those who hear and obey His words to a wise builder on rock, while those who neglect them are like a foolish builder on sand. He emphasized that just as houses need a solid base to survive storms, churches and believers require a firm biblical foundation to endure trials and cultural shifts. Continuing the theme of “reset,” the teacher explained that resetting isn’t about new revelations but about returning to core, proven truths—our purpose, profile, priorities, and authentic faith practice. He urged the congregation to examine personal and corporate habits, to be gracious in conflict, and to stay rooted in the unchanging gospel while engaging an ever‑changing world. The session concluded with a call to prepare for the post‑pandemic season, ensuring the church is ready to fulfill its mission with a renewed, rock‑solid foundation.

Matthew 7:24-27

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and struck that house, but it did not fall, because it was founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and struck that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.
