The Perfect Print - Linder Road Church of Christ Sunday Sermon

Lesson 2 of 5 February 3, 2020

The class began with a lighthearted story about a congregation member listening to a football game through an earpiece, which transitioned into a discussion about spiritual 'imprints.' The teacher explained that unlike every human fingerprint, which is unique, only Jesus bears the perfect imprint of the Father, as described in Hebrews 1:3. He examined John 5:17‑18 to demonstrate how Jesus’ relationship with the Father affirmed His divine equality, and then moved to John 5:28‑29, highlighting the promise of a general resurrection where all the dead will hear His voice and be raised either to life or judgment. The sermon further reinforced this doctrine by citing Philippians 2:10‑11, emphasizing that every knee will bow to Jesus, and John 12:40‑47, which underscores Christ’s ultimate authority over all. The teacher explained that the second coming, detailed in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Daniel 12:2, will be a public, simultaneous event affecting both the righteous and the unrighteous. The central message urged listeners to recognize Jesus as the perfect representation of the Father, live in reverent obedience, and remain prepared for the forthcoming resurrection and judgment.

Hebrews 1:3

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

John 5:28-29

Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and will come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
