Sunday PM Worship

Lesson 31 of 49 August 18, 2025

The class began with Pastor Clint Davison acknowledging the emotional difficulty many families feel as children return to school or loved ones embark on new chapters. He used these modern transitions as a springboard to discuss the apostle Paul’s concern for the Thessalonian believers, whom he had to leave due to persecution. Referring to 1 Thessalonians 3:1‑3, Davison explained that Paul’s heart remained with the church and that he sent Timothy as a trusted co‑worker to strengthen and encourage the new converts so they would not be shaken by upcoming trials. Davison then illustrated the importance of a firm spiritual foundation, comparing it to the literal foundation of a house and the Simpson Strong‑Tie anchor that connects a building’s structure to its base. He cited Colossians 2:6‑7 and 2 Timothy 2:15 to underscore that a deep grounding in Scripture prevents the devil’s lies from destabilizing our faith. The lesson concluded with a call for believers to support one another, be diligent in studying God’s Word, and intentionally build a resilient foundation that can endure life’s hardships.

1 Thessalonians 3:1-3

We sent Timothy, our brother and God's co-worker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you concerning your faith so that no one will be shaken by these afflictions.
