LTC Showcase

Lesson 14 of 32 May 2, 2022

During the LTC showcase class, Richard Sutton used the story of Cecil B. DeMille’s epic film production to illustrate how our spiritual work can be flawless in effort yet fall short without God’s perfect timing and perspective. He connected this analogy to 1 Corinthians 3:11‑15, emphasizing that Jesus Christ is the only foundation and that each person’s labor will be examined by fire, revealing whether it will be rewarded as gold and precious stones or be reduced to wood, hay, or straw. The teacher then shifted focus to 2 Peter 1:5‑8, urging the congregation to add qualities such as goodness, knowledge, self‑control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love to their faith, thereby moving beyond mediocrity toward a productive Christian life. He highlighted real‑world applications through the dedication of the young leaders in the Life Training Center and celebrated the baptism of Mike Johnson, noting heaven’s rejoicing over new believers. The central message urged listeners to build diligently on Christ’s foundation, seeking excellence rather than competition, so that their lives would be pleasing to God and shine brightly for the world.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15

For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, and straw, each man's work will become evident, for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire. And the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. If any man's work which he has built upon remains, he shall be rewarded. If any man's work is burned up, he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire.
