Creationism - Is there one supreme God_

Lesson 6 of 10 August 17, 2017

This Bible study class centered on the biblical teaching that God is the only true creator and supreme deity, rejecting the notion of multiple gods. The teacher emphasized that all other deities are human inventions, incapable of genuine authority or power, as illustrated through historical accounts and scriptural examples. Key passages such as Exodus 20:3, Isaiah 45:7, and 1 Samuel 5:1-5 were discussed, highlighting God’s exclusivity and the futility of idolatry. The class also examined the story of Aaron’s golden calf in Exodus 32, noting how the people’s desire for a tangible god led to rebellion and hypocrisy. The teacher stressed that God is not subject to human creation or manipulation, and that worshiping false gods reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of divine sovereignty. The lesson underscored the importance of personal accountability in matters of faith, using Aaron’s failure as a cautionary example. The overarching message was a call to recognize the singular authority of God and the dangers of spiritual compromise.

Exodus 20:2-3

I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me.

Exodus 32:1-6

When the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron and said to him, 'Come, make us gods that shall go before us... And Aaron said to them, 'Break off the golden earrings... and bring them to me.' So all the people broke off the golden earrings... and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool and made a molded calf.

1 Samuel 5:2-4

And when the people of Ashdod arose early in the morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set it in its place again. And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the Lord.
