Lesson 6 of 7 March 4, 2019

This Bible study focused on the necessity of spiritual growth and the ongoing responsibility to resist Satan after receiving God’s fullness. The teacher emphasized Ephesians 3’s vision of God filling believers and Christ dwelling in them, followed by Ephesians 6:10-12’s call to ‘put on the whole armor of God’ to stand against the devil’s schemes. The lesson detailed Satan’s wiles, comparing him to a scheming ‘Wile E. Coyote’ and highlighting his tactics of distorting Scripture (Genesis 3) and appealing to worldly desires (Job, James 4:7). The teacher also warned against complacency, using 2 Timothy 4:9-10 (Demas’s desertion) as a cautionary example of losing the will to resist. Central to the message was the need for vigilance (1 Peter 5:8), sobriety, and a heartfelt desire to obey God, illustrated through real-life parallels in sports and medicine. The class concluded with a challenge to intentionally pursue spiritual resilience through daily resistance and faithfulness.

Ephesians 6:10-12

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil spiritual forces in the heavenly places.

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
