The Peace of God – Chuck Monan

Lesson 12 of 21 October 15, 2023

The teacher opened the class by expressing gratitude and immediately addressed the pervasive search for significance outside of God. He used contemporary cultural references, such as the Kardashian phenomenon, to illustrate how society’s pursuit of fame and self‑gratification leads to frustration, addiction, and suicide. He argued that true identity and peace are found only in Christ, emphasizing that those who know God experience the peace that the world cannot give. Building on this, he quoted Paul’s declaration from 2 Corinthians 5:20, explaining that believers are ambassadors for Christ, called to reconcile others to God. He warned against hypocrisy and the modern “intersectional” mindset that, in his view, replaces biblical truth with fragmented identities. By contrasting these cultural trends with the biblical invitation to rest in God’s peace, he concluded that living for Christ is the only path to genuine significance and inner calm. Throughout the class, the teacher encouraged listeners to reject the empty promises of social media validation and to embrace the peace of God, urging them to become active participants in God’s restorative work on earth.

2 Corinthians 5:20

we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
