Wednesday Night Class

Lesson 3 of 10 July 20, 2017

The Wednesday Night Class continued its series on worldviews and their relationship to Scripture, focusing on how contemporary cultural emphases on diversity, tolerance, and inclusiveness intersect with biblical truth. The teacher reminded the group of the five primary worldviews—naturalism, pantheism, theism, polytheism, and post‑modernism—explaining that many people today are confused about what to believe. He argued that the modern pursuit of inclusivity has, in some circles, become a kind of religion that rejects the Christian claim to exclusive truth. Using a recorded interview with a Baptist pastor, the teacher highlighted that Christianity is inherently divisive, citing Matthew 10:34, Luke 12:51, and Matthew 25:33 to show that Jesus warned He would bring a sword and set the sheep apart from the goats. The lesson emphasized that the Bible does contain division and intolerance toward falsehood, and that believers must choose which side of this division they will stand on. The teacher encouraged the class to accept the clear biblical mandate rather than water down the message for societal acceptance, urging members to align themselves with the winning team—those who follow Christ’s teaching and await the final judgment.

Matthew 10:34

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Luke 12:51

Do you think I have come to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

Matthew 25:33

Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.'
