Highway to Heaven_ Salvation's Road

Lesson 9 of 11 March 11, 2018

In this class, Pastor Richard Sutton opened his “Highway to Heaven” series by likening the world’s longest highways to the spiritual journey every person must undertake. He described the Pan‑American Highway and other famed routes, then declared that the longest road in terms of destination is the one that begins at each listener’s seat—a road that leads either to heaven or to eternal destruction. Using Matthew 7:13‑14, he explained that Jesus described a wide gate and broad way that result in ruin, contrasted with a narrow gate and pathway that lead to life, emphasizing that only a few find the narrow way. Sutton urged the congregation to consider which road they were traveling on and whether they truly knew their eternal destination. He encouraged believers to rely on mature Christians as maps and to watch the spiritual “mile‑markers” that indicate progress toward Christ. Throughout the lesson, he interwove personal travel anecdotes, reminders of upcoming church events, and a heartfelt invitation to choose the narrow road that ends in everlasting life.

Matthew 7:13-14

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
