Facing the Giants- Richard Sutton

Lesson 52 of 52 January 5, 2026

The teacher opened the class by celebrating the fresh start that a new year offers, yet emphasized that true renewal comes daily through Christ, citing 2 Corinthians 5:17. He shared personal practices of thankfulness and highlighted how each day is an opportunity for a spiritual reset. The main teaching focused on the theme "Facing the Giants," explaining that giants—whether obstacles, challenges, or even beneficial forces—are a normal part of every life stage. He distinguished between good giants that push us forward and bad giants that must be confronted, stressing that no giant can be ignored because they either grow larger or hinder God's purpose. Using the familiar biblical account of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17), the teacher illustrated that God is greater than any giant we face. He encouraged the class to develop a "giant‑faith," trusting that the Lord equips believers to face, learn from, or defeat each challenge. The session concluded with a call to daily prayer, gratitude, and a commitment to engage the year’s theme by recognizing and confronting the giants in each member’s life. Throughout, the class reinforced the promise that God’s power surpasses every obstacle, urging participants to lean on Christ’s renewing work each day, not just at the turning of the calendar.

He had a bronze greaves on his legs and bronze javelin slung between his shoulders. The shaft of his spear was like a weaver's beam and the head of his spear weighed 600 shekels of iron. His shield carrier walked before him. He stood and he shouted to the ranks of the armies of Israel, Why do you come out and draw
