Last Days

Lesson 10 of 11 June 16, 2025

During the class, Richard Sutton explained that the premillennial theory, which posits a future earthly kingdom after Christ’s return, is not rooted in biblical teaching. He highlighted that Scripture, especially Colossians 1:13‑14 and Revelation 1, declares believers have already been transferred into the Kingdom of the Son, making us present citizens of that kingdom. He contrasted this with the false signs many associate with the end times, interpreting Mark 13:1‑34 as primarily a warning about the immediate danger of armed forces besieging Jerusalem rather than a catalog of worldwide catastrophes.\n\nSutton also addressed the rapture concept, noting the lack of solid scriptural support, and clarified the antichrist’s role as a present reality rather than a singular future figure, referencing 1 John 2:18. He linked current global events, such as the Russia‑Ukraine conflict and tensions in the Middle East, to biblical warnings but cautioned against sensationalist predictions. The central message reinforced that only the Father knows the timing of Christ’s return (Matthew 24:36), urging believers to live faithfully in the already‑established kingdom while remaining watchful and obedient.

Colossians 1:13-14

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Mark 24:1-34

Revelation 1:9

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpet, saying, ‘What you are about to see, write on a scroll and send to the seven churches.’
