The Announcement of the King

Lesson 28 of 53 July 19, 2021

During the July 18 2021 class, Richard Sutton opened by welcoming visitors and encouraging attendance check‑ins before moving into the heart of his lesson: the biblical announcement of Jesus as King. He traced the narrative from the angelic declaration to the shepherds (Luke 2:11‑14), emphasizing that the Messiah’s birth in a lowly manger fulfilled the prophecy of Emmanuel (Matthew 1:23) and the promised King of the universe (Isaiah 9:6). Sutton explained that God’s incarnation meant the Creator took on human flesh, lived, suffered, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for all humanity, echoing John 1:14 and Philippians 2:6‑8. The teacher also updated the congregation on recent church events—celebrating a successful pre‑team camp, announcing a new self‑serve coffee bar for fellowship, and reminding families about the upcoming Vacation Bible School. He lightened the atmosphere with a playful frozen custard anecdote before concluding that the announcement of the King is not merely a historical fact but a daily invitation to recognize Christ’s sovereign love and reign in our lives. The message left the class inspired to worship the King who entered the world humbly yet remains eternally supreme.
