2025 Ladies Retreat - Lesson 1 - Chantelle Swayne

Lesson 1 of 3 September 13, 2025

During the 2025 Ladies Retreat Lesson 1, Chantelle Swayne opened the session by introducing herself and the theme of walking with awareness. She anchored the discussion in Ephesians 5:15‑17, explaining that the Greek word "akrabos" calls believers to walk diligently and circumspectly amid an evil world. She connected this call to the preceding verse, Ephesians 5:14, urging believers to awaken spiritually, and to the following passage about the armor of God in Ephesians 6:11‑13, portraying Christians as soldiers who must stay vigilant against spiritual forces of darkness. Chantelle then shifted to Philippians 3:12‑14, emphasizing the need to press on toward the heavenly prize, forgetting past failures and striving forward. She encouraged the class to identify personal areas needing greater awareness, to adopt intentional habits, and to support one another in growth. The lesson concluded with a practical challenge: each participant would select one actionable change to foster greater spiritual alertness and purpose in daily life. Overall, the class blended scriptural exposition with personal application, urging the women to live intentionally, equipped with God’s armor, and to continually seek wisdom and awareness in their walk with Christ.

Ephesians 5:15-17

Look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own, but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what is ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
