Young Adult's Class

Lesson 4 of 9 May 10, 2021

The class opened with prayers of gratitude and a quick celebration of recent milestones before tackling the question of whether Christians make good employees. The teacher guided the group to identify biblical traits like a strong work ethic, honesty, humility, and teamwork, referencing Colossians 3:17 and 3:22‑24, Philippians 2:14‑15, and Romans 12. Participants discussed how these verses command believers to work wholeheartedly for the Lord, avoid grumbling, and live peacefully with others, drawing parallels to modern workplace dynamics. Further discussion connected these principles to deeper concepts of servant leadership, noting passages from Ephesians about obedience to earthly masters and Mark 10:45’s example of Christ’s service. The group concluded that the same scriptural standards apply beyond formal employment—to homeschooling, stay‑at‑home ministry, or any life role—encouraging students to let their light shine wherever they are. The session ended with a commitment to apply these biblical standards in everyday life, reinforcing that true Christian excellence reflects God’s character in all work settings.

Colossians 3:22-24

Slaves, obey your human masters and everything. Don't work only while being watched as people pleasers, but work wholeheartedly hearing the Lord. Whatever you do, do it from the heart as something done to the Lord and not for people.

Philippians 2:14-15

Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish in a warped and crooked generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.
