Walk with me - A study from book of Mark

Lesson 6 of 11 August 15, 2022

The class began by recalling the previous week’s focus on Jesus’s touch, emphasizing that He reached out not only physically but also emotionally and spiritually to those deemed untouchable. The teacher highlighted how Jesus broke down societal walls, healed the diseased, comforted the grieving, and ultimately bore humanity’s sin on the Cross, illustrating these three dimensions through passages from Galatians 6:2, Mark 15:15, and Mark 14:34. The lesson then shifted to specific encounters recorded in Mark. The commissioning of the twelve in Mark 6:7‑13 was presented as a model for believers to go out, confront evil, and depend on God’s provision. The narrative of the possessed boy in Mark 9:17 demonstrated the necessity of faith and prayer when confronting spiritual oppression. Throughout, the teacher underscored that while physical and emotional care are vital, the ultimate priority is meeting spiritual needs, echoing the cross as the culmination of Jesus’s threefold ministry. The class concluded with a challenge to embody Christ’s compassion in everyday relationships within the congregation and the broader community.

Mark 6:7-13

Calling the twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over impure spirits. These were his instructions. Take nothing for the journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals, not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them. They went out and preached that people should repent. And they drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
