Freedom From Slavery - Dustin Compbell

Lesson 4 of 6 May 7, 2017

The class opened with Dustin repeatedly asking the congregation, “Who do we give glory to?” emphasizing that salvation and identity rest solely in giving glory to God, not in past achievements, personal status, or worldly codes. He asserted that Paul teaches in Galatians 4 that believers are no longer slaves to the law or other “slave items,” but are free in Christ. Dustin illustrated this truth with a story about an eagle raised among chickens, highlighting how people can be conditioned to live at a lower level, forgetting the majestic purpose God intended for them. He warned against allowing worldly hopes and achievements to become idols, reminding the class that true hope and freedom come only through Jesus’ death on the cross. He concluded with a heartfelt appeal for the youth to pursue the eternal hope of heaven rather than temporary, earthly freedoms, encouraging every believer to soar like the eagle God created them to be. Throughout, Dustin reinforced that freedom is not a product of political or social movements but a divine gift. He challenged the audience to relinquish the “slaves” of their past and present identities, to glorify God alone, and to live out the liberty granted by Christ’s sacrifice.
