Walk with me - Crowd me

Lesson 3 of 3 November 3, 2019

The class began by recalling the previous lessons in the Walk With Me series—Follow Me, Understand Me, and Listen Me—before introducing Lesson 4, titled "Crowd Me." The teacher used contemporary examples of large public gatherings, such as Tokyo and Times Square on New Year’s Eve, to illustrate how crowds can feel impersonal and chaotic. He then turned to Mark’s Gospel, reading from chapter 1 verse 14 through chapter 2 verse 14, and highlighted a series of individual encounters Jesus had: calling James and John (Mark 1:19), confronting an unclean spirit in a synagogue (Mark 1:23), healing Simon’s mother‑in‑law (Mark 1:30‑31), cleansing a leper (Mark 1:40), forgiving a paralytic’s sins (Mark 2:5), and inviting Levi the tax collector to follow Him (Mark 2:14). The teacher emphasized that Jesus’ ministry began with personal, one‑on‑one relationships, and that the crowds that formed afterward were a natural by‑product of those authentic connections. Students discussed why Jesus chose this approach instead of preaching to massive audiences. They concluded that focusing on individuals honors God’s personal love for each person and creates a genuine, obedient following. The class closed with prayer, encouraging everyone to seek out personal outreach in their own lives, thereby becoming a true "crowd" that reflects Christ’s love in their community.
