Reset - Priorities

Lesson 6 of 53 February 8, 2021

The class opened with a hopeful note about the gradual easing of pandemic restrictions and used the metaphor of resetting a messy hairstyle to illustrate the need for spiritual realignment. The teacher defined priorities as putting first things first and contrasted the world’s script for living with God’s script revealed in Scripture. By examining Acts 2:42‑47, the lesson identified four timeless priorities for the local church—teaching, fellowship, communion, and prayer—showing how these practices shape a community that glorifies God. Continuing the theme, the teacher linked these priorities to the church’s broader purpose, profile, and the individual believer’s life, emphasizing that a proper “profile” (the visible Christian character) must reflect the inner reset of purpose and values. The session encouraged the congregation to ask probing “why” and “what” questions, urging them to move beyond tradition toward a fresh, Scripture‑based commitment to the gospel, baptism, repentance, and reliance on the Holy Spirit, thereby resetting their priorities to align with God's will.

Acts 2:42-47

And all the believers were together and had all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, continuing in the temple and breaking bread at home, they received their food with glad and generous hearts. They praised God and had favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
