Witness Jesus the Creator - Vence Gordon

Lesson 2 of 26 October 11, 2019

The class featured Vince Gordon, a dedicated servant‑leader, who examined the doctrine of Jesus as Creator and Sustainer. He began by reading John 1:1‑14, emphasizing that the Word was both with God and was God, and that all things were made through Him. He connected this opening to Genesis, noting that both books start with "In the beginning," underscoring Jesus’s role in creation. Throughout his talk, Gordon referenced Psalm 90:1‑2, 1 John 1:1‑3, Philippians 2:7, Colossians 1:17, and Hebrews 1:3 to illustrate Jesus’s eternal existence, incarnation, and continuous upholding of the universe. Gordon highlighted that Jesus’s work does not end at creation; He actively sustains the cosmos, the earth’s motions, and human life. He warned against relying solely on scientific explanations, pointing out that every scientific observation ultimately points to the sustaining power of the Almighty. The class concluded with a call for believers to witness Christ’s creative and sustaining work, sharing the message of salvation and unity with others, and to live in fellowship as a testament to God’s everlasting presence.

John 1:1-4

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God, and all things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life of the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
