No Longer I

Lesson 6 of 11 May 18, 2025

The class opened with a review of last week’s lesson on "to the least of these" and the pitfalls of placing believers on pedestals, emphasizing that the Body of Christ has no internal hierarchy. The teacher highlighted Paul’s teaching that believers are one in Christ regardless of ethnicity, status, or gender, referencing Galatians 3:28 to reinforce the equality of all members. The discussion then shifted to John 4, where Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that true worship will not be confined to a specific mountain or Jerusalem but will be conducted in spirit and truth, underscoring God’s seeking of authentic worshipers. Building on that, the teacher connected the passage to 2 Corinthians 6:16, reminding the class that the believers themselves are God’s temple, the true place of worship. Practical applications were explored, examining contemporary worship styles, self‑centered preferences, and the need for a unified, self‑less worship experience that reflects the unity of the Body. The class concluded with a call to evaluate personal worship habits and to seek a Spirit‑led, collective expression of faith within the congregation.

John 4:19-23

Sir, the woman replied, I see that you're a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, which is Gerizim. But you Jews say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem. Jesus told her, believe me, woman, an hour is coming when you will worship the father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know. We worship what we do know because salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming and is now here when true worshipers will worship the father in spirit and truth. Yes, the father wants such people to worship him.
