Importance of Connections

Lesson 19 of 52 May 19, 2025

The class began with a warm welcome and announcements about the upcoming Storm Survival workshop and senior graduation celebrations. The teacher introduced the year’s theme, “Pressing On,” referencing Philippians 3:14 to illustrate the biblical call to move forward toward God’s high calling, leaving behind past struggles and focusing on a heavenly future. He explained how this theme connects to the six lesson series, particularly the recent lesson on connections, emphasizing that God created us to belong, love, and serve one another. Through a series of hand‑raise questions, the teacher highlighted everyday joys—coffee, birthdays, marriage—and contrasted them with deeper challenges such as depression, illness, grief, and relationship conflicts. He used these personal reflections to demonstrate that while everyone experiences both celebration and hardship, no one is truly alone. The central message affirmed that our primary connections are with the Father—God who cares for us beyond comprehension—and with fellow believers who provide mutual support. By pressing on together, believers can navigate life’s storms, find purpose, and experience the love that fulfills God’s design for human relationships.

Philippians 3:14

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
