Children's Bible Class

Lesson 11 of 28 July 26, 2020

The teacher opened the class by reconnecting with the recent lesson on Acts 3, where Peter and John healed a lifelong lame beggar. She then moved into the follow‑up story from Acts 4, describing how the Jewish priests and Sadducees—who denied resurrection—were outraged that the apostles proclaimed Jesus’ resurrection and performed miracles in His name. The class watched a dramatized video where Peter and John, after healing the man, were arrested, brought before the council, and boldly declared they could not stop speaking about what they had seen and heard. Despite being ordered not to speak in Jesus' name, they refused, trusting the Holy Spirit to give them courage. The teacher emphasized that the apostles’ boldness was not their own but a result of the Holy Spirit’s power, encouraging the children to emulate that same courage today. She closed with a reminder to share Jesus boldly throughout the week, quoting Acts 4:20 as a memory verse, and wished everyone a blessed week ahead, reflecting the community spirit of Linder Road Church of Christ.

Acts 4:1-22

And as they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming the good news of Jesus in the temple... So they called them and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, 'You must judge for yourselves whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God. For we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.'

Acts 4:19-20

Then the priest said, 'We commanded you strictly not to speak in this name any longer. Yet here you are, having filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you are bringing this man's blood upon us.' But Peter and John answered them, 'You must judge for yourselves whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God. For we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.'
