Guatemala Mission Trip Report

Lesson 20 of 32 June 27, 2022

The class opened with Clint Davison enthusiastically reporting on the recent Guatemala mission trip, noting that seven members from Linder Road Church of Christ, along with two guests from West Visalia and one from St. Louis, traveled to Guatemala City. After a brief airport welcome, the group toured a massive topographical relief map and explored the capital’s historic palace, observing the cultural blend of Spanish and Mayan heritage and the nation’s pride in being a "pro‑life" capital. Throughout the trip, they connected with local families, including the Ulysses and Ramirez families, and shared meals and fellowship with the community. Clint highlighted the longstanding partnership with the Hawatha and Byron families, the work of the local school, and the challenges the school faced, such as visa issues and COVID disruptions. He emphasized that over ten percent of the congregation had now participated in the mission, illustrating the church’s commitment to sending volunteers rather than merely financial support. The report concluded with anticipation for the upcoming October lectureship where the Hawatha family would share more about their ministry, encouraging continued involvement and prayer for the Guatemalan brethren.
