Exodus

Lesson 5 of 10 November 8, 2021

The class examined the latter portion of Exodus, focusing on God’s commands given to Moses on Mount Sinai and the subsequent building of the Tabernacle. The teacher explained how God first delivered the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1‑17) and then provided a comprehensive set of instructions in Exodus 24:15‑18, 25, and 26, detailing the materials, measurements, and craftsmanship required for the holy tent, its curtains, frames, and furnishings. By emphasizing the exact dimensions and specific materials—gold, silver, bronze, acacia wood, fine linen, and colored threads—the instructor illustrated how every Israelite’s skill was meant to contribute to the divine project. The central message encouraged participants to picture themselves as Moses, listening attentively to God’s plan and then faithfully conveying it to the people. The teacher stressed the spiritual principle of obedience to God’s precise instructions and the significance of each believer’s unique gifts in constructing a community that honors the covenant. The lesson concluded with a call to apply these truths, building a personal “tabernacle” of devotion that reflects God’s holiness in everyday life.

Exodus 24:15-18

And Moses went up into the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. And the glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and the seventh day he called unto him out of the midst of the cloud. And the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
