Achieving a Giant Faith

Lesson 5 of 6 February 2, 2026

In the February 1, 2026 class titled “Achieving a Giant Faith,” the teacher introduced the concept of affiliating faith as the second stage in a five‑level model of spiritual growth. After reviewing the levels—imitating, affiliating, searching, solidifying, and mature—he explained that affiliating faith occurs when a person believes primarily because others believe, using the Samaritan woman’s testimony in John chapter 4 as a biblical illustration. The class emphasized that while believers may initially repeat prayers they have heard, true maturity involves moving beyond rote repetition to sincere, heartfelt communion with God. The instructor warned against using these categories to label or pigeonhole individuals, noting that external signs—such as the style of prayer or reliance on others’ words—are only indicators, not definitive judgments. By examining Jesus’ teaching on prayer in Matthew 6:5‑13, the class highlighted the pitfalls of hypocritical, showy worship and underscored the need for private, genuine dialogue with the Father. Participants were encouraged to honestly assess their own faith level, recognize affiliating tendencies, and strive toward solidifying and mature faith through personal study and authentic prayer.
