One Another

Lesson 2 of 12 April 22, 2024

The session opened with a joyful announcement about the congregation’s strong involvement in the LTC youth event, highlighting the church’s impact beyond the local community. The teacher then guided the class through the series of "one‑another" passages, emphasizing that the church is the body of Christ, as illustrated in Romans 12:3‑5, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 1:22‑4:4. By using the analogy of a human body, the lesson reminded participants that every member, no matter how seemingly insignificant, is essential to the health of the whole. The focus shifted to the command to "love one another," drawing on 1 John 4:8, John 13:34‑35, and the forgiving mandate of Matthew 18:21‑22. The teacher highlighted that love is not merely an emotion but the motivating force that enables believers to fulfill all other "one‑another" directives—such as bearing burdens, forgiving, and building one another up. Practical examples, including a personal story about a shoulder injury, illustrated how we often overlook the importance of love until it is lacking. The class concluded with a call to embody Christ‑like love in everyday interactions, encouraging the congregation to let love shape every aspect of their communal life.

Romans 12:3-5

For by the grace given to me, I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, as God has distributed to each a measure of faith. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
