Beautiful Feet - Jared McCormick

Lesson 2 of 6 August 7, 2024

The class examined the biblical concept of "beautiful feet" as found in Isaiah 52:7 and Romans 10:12‑15. The teacher explained how Paul, a Jewish believer, expressed deep sorrow for his fellow Jews who rejected Christ (Romans 9:1‑5, 11:1) and posed a series of questions about how those who have never heard the gospel could call on, believe, hear, and be sent to preach. By linking these questions to contemporary contexts—Idaho’s valleys, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods—the teacher emphasized that every believer, not only clergy, is called to carry the good news. The lesson highlighted that the effectiveness of evangelism depends on God’s Word shining into darkness (2 Peter 1:9) and that the believer’s role is to be a humble vessel, allowing God’s growth to happen. The teacher illustrated the principle with a story of Dush Rathmanji, an Indian farmer from the lowest caste who faithfully cultivated the land across a mountain, symbolizing the diligent work required to spread the gospel. The class concluded that, empowered by the Great Commission, members of Linder Road Church of Christ are encouraged to step out boldly, trusting that God will make their feet beautiful as they share the salvation message.

Romans 10:14-15

how then will they call on him whom they have not believed... how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Isaiah 52:7

how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, your God reigns.
