Faithful Christianity_ The How To Guide

Lesson 1 of 9 January 3, 2019

In the opening Wednesday night class of 2019, Jeremy Havlik introduced the series on Christian faithfulness by first addressing the universal concern of remaining loyal to God throughout life. He outlined six focal topics: sanctification and cleansing, the new identity in Christ, the influence of our speech, daily lifestyle, worship, and trust in God. Using foundational scriptures such as Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 6:9‑10, and Matthew 25:21, Jeremy demonstrated how the law reveals our inability to achieve righteousness, while grace through Christ enables justification and sanctification. Jeremy explained that all people share a common problem of sin, illustrated by the law’s overwhelming requirements (e.g., Exodus 23:7, Proverbs 17:15). He emphasized that Christ’s sacrifice justifies the ungodly, transforming believers into new creations capable of faithful service. The class concluded with a prayer for humility and wisdom, encouraging participants to engage, share insights, and support one another in the pursuit of steadfast devotion, aiming to hear the heavenly affirmation, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Matthew 25:21

Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.

Romans 6:1-4

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
