God's Man - A Faithful Soul - Men's Rally II

Lesson 3 of 4 March 20, 2017

The teacher used the prophet Habakkuk as an example of a man who remained faithful to God during turbulent times around 600-650 B.C. Habakkuk complained to God about the chaos, injustice, and wickedness in his nation, asking why God seemed unresponsive to his prayers. God's answer was revolutionary: He assured Habakkuk that He was actively working in ways that transcended human comprehension. God told Habakkuk that even if He attempted to explain His workings, Habakkuk would not believe or understand them. God revealed two critical practices for maintaining faithfulness. First, God's men must clearly proclaim God's message—not just through words, but through how they live their lives. This message centers on God's love demonstrated through Christ's sacrifice for our sins. Jesus taught that believers should let their light shine before others so they might see good works and glorify God. Second, God's men must maintain faith in God's appointed purposes, trusting that His goals will not fail despite appearances to the contrary. The teacher emphasized that believers today face similar struggles—confusion about world events, concerns about families and marriages, and uncertainty about God's work. Like Habakkuk, we are called to trust that God is working behind the scenes in ways we cannot comprehend, while faithfully proclaiming His message of love and maintaining confidence in His ultimate purposes.

Habakkuk 1:2-4

How long, O Lord, will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire? Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not know you, on the kingdom that does not call on your name. For they have devoured Jacob and laid waste his dwelling place.

Habakkuk 1:5

Look among the nations and observe; be astonished. For I am doing something in your day that you would not believe, even if you were told.
