Guatemala Report – Hi Jones - Lectureship

Lesson 19 of 19 October 17, 2022

The teacher presented a comprehensive three-year report on the church's mission work in Guatemala, spanning 22 years of continuous ministry. The presentation highlighted the growth and resilience of the Guatemalan congregation despite significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic that had suspended previous visits and required virtual lectureships in 2021. The report showcased the establishment of a preacher training school whose graduates, like Brother Walter, now serve as full-time ministers. The work has expanded from a single congregation to four congregations in the Alta Verapaz region, with additional outreach through English classes and community engagement. The teacher emphasized the practical, hands-on nature of the ministry, including recent mission team visits from Linder Road Church that participated in construction projects, children's classes, and spiritual encouragement. The presentation also honored Brother Nebal, a respected missionary who passed away during the pandemic, acknowledging the congregation's sadness while affirming hope in the resurrection. Throughout the report, the teacher illustrated the Guatemalan culture, the challenges of ministry in that context, and the unwavering commitment of the local Guatemalan brethren to share the gospel in their communities, while encouraging continued prayer and future mission partnerships.
