Children's Bible Class

Lesson 4 of 28 June 8, 2020

Teacher Lori Sutton taught an engaging children's Bible class on the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus Christ. She began by reviewing the greatest news ever—that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, fulfilling both His own promise and Old Testament prophecy. The lesson traced Jesus' appearances to Mary Magdalene at the tomb, to two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and to the apostles in Jerusalem, where they initially feared Jesus was a ghost until He showed them His pierced hands and side. The class emphasized Thomas's doubt and his later belief after encountering the risen Jesus a week later, noting Jesus' blessing on those who believe without seeing. The lesson continued with the miraculous fishing account at the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus revealed Himself to the apostles and provided them breakfast. Sutton highlighted the restoration scene with Peter, where Jesus asked three times if Peter loved Him and commissioned him to shepherd His sheep, despite Peter's earlier denials. The teacher concluded by addressing how believers today encounter Jesus through studying Scripture, observing Jesus' teachings and miracles, and witnessing faithful followers. She challenged students to respond to doubt through prayer, study, and continued faith, using Thomas and Peter as examples of believers who struggled yet persevered in their faith and accomplished great things for Jesus.
